Meet Dr. Terry Huttenlock

Dr. Terry Huttenlock, a seasoned educator and technologist, has witnessed firsthand the dramatic evolution of computing, from room-sized mainframes to ubiquitous handheld devices. In 1999, Dr. Huttenlock joined Wheaton College as a faculty member and head of the newly established library systems department. Her user-centered philosophy guided the development and implementation of foundational systems that underpin current search and management tools. She earned a doctorate in education with a focus on instructional technology in 2007 and continued to explore and teach tech tools that had the potential to enhance research and writing.
For over 25 years, Dr. Huttenlock has taught library research across various disciplines and served as an adjunct instructor in computing, educational technology, library systems, and quantitative and qualitative research methods. She has also provided personalized support to students with disabilities, helping them effectively use assistive technology.
Since her retirement in 2021, Dr. Huttenlock has continued to teach, initially as an adult ESL instructor and now working with students at Wheaton Academy. She remains committed to lifelong learning and exploring new technological applications. A staunch advocate for learner-centered education, Dr. Huttenlock believes that technology can be a powerful tool for learning, if used appropriately.
