Utilizing Testing for Personalized Learning

The Center uses the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) test to measure current academic performance and assist with building differentiated learning plans.

MAP is a computer-adaptive test that provides each student a unique set of test questions based on responses to previous questions. As the student answers correctly, questions get harder. If the student answers incorrectly, the questions get easier.

The purpose of MAP is to determine what the student knows and is ready to learn next. MAP allows us to give feedback to students and parents quickly. The Center’s Academic Coaches receive immediate results that allow them to personalize lessons at the appropriate level for students. It facilitates discussions with parents on goals for academic performance at various levels.
